Today was the opening of Derek Lam‘s first shop in NYC. He chose to be on Crosby street and to have Ted Muehling, De Vera, Jil Sander and BDDW as his neighbors. The space is a NY loft, with white bricks on the wall and wooden floor. Kazuyo Sejima (her company designed particularly the New Museum) divided the room with transparent panels and played with golden curtains to create, if necessary, some privacy. It’s simple and very elegant. Definitely a good spot to watch at and to shop.
