Black Panthers at the New Museum

EmoryDouglas2

Emory Douglas became the Minister of Culture for the Black Panther Party in 1967 and held the job since the early 80’s. He is the one who create the amazing print trade of this revolutionary movement. The New Museum presents more than 150 Black Panther’s covers,  the Party’s weekly newspaper and posters. Nothing better for the mind than the art inspired by politics meaning the rules that govern a country. Check it out. The exhibition runs till october 18th and don’t miss “Living with conviction : A Black Panther Party movies serie“. RB © Emory Douglas

Bowery Hotel

BHThe Bowery Hotel opened one year ago and emphasized the changing the neighborhood is going through. Therefore, since  a few days, Rogan opens his shop right across the hotel.

The Bowery Hotel is the property of Eric Goode and Sean MacPherson (behind the Maritime Hotel and the Waverly Inn), two guys who knows how to gather a wealthy, fashionnable and hip crowd.  Remember the Bowery Bar in 1995.Naomi Campbell was one of the barfly ! As a result, part of this international audience, most of the time involved in the entertaining business rather than in the creativity side of it, book a room there.

The hotel has  135 high-priced rooms with  free wi-fi, iPod docks, flatscreen TVs  and floor-to-ceiling windows which afford great views on the Eats Village while some have terrace suites with the added perk of outdoor hot tubs. The lobby has an old european flavor with its threadbare carpets,  velvet upholstery and its fire place. Definitely a good place to meet a friend for hot chocolate during winter.  RB
